Mountain Hardwear Lhasa Tank

The more I wear my Mountain Hardwear Lhasa Tank, the more I love its unique design.

The first time I saw this top I was wary of the asymmetrical straps and the gather on the lower left part of the abdomen since I'm the kind of person who can't leave the house until my left and right shoelaces are tied with exactly the same tightness. But after putting it on, I almost instantly forgot that the straps weren't the same. In fact, the stretch jersey fabric (90% organic cotton, 10% stretch cotton jersey) made the shirt so comfortable I practically forgot I was wearing it. Until people started telling me how cute it was.

It's the little touches that make the Lhasa Tank great. The contrast stitching on the skinny double straps, for example, adds subtle flair. The double Xs of contrast stitching on the gather echo the skinny crisscrossed shoulder straps. And, most importantly, the extra-soft fabric used in the built-in bra makes wearing the tank a treat (Nothing makes me crankier than a band of scratchy elastic choking my ribcage).

The Lhasa Tank shows Mountain Hardwear's customary attention to detail and craftsmanship. Don't let the street-smart style fool you - this shirt is built to play rough. I monkeyed all over some sandy, gritty beach boulders while wearing it. Afterward, I brushed off the sand. The shirt looked brand new.

Sizes run from XS to XL. I think the fit leans on the small side. When they say XS, they mean it. You may want to go a size up from what you usually wear. Available in an array of tantalizingly named color combinations: Icefall/ Union Blue, Sarsaparilla/Gingerale, Clementine/Pussywillow, and Black/Pussywillow.

Bottom Line:The Mountain Hardwear Lhasa Tank takes me from the beach, to the crag, to the city streets without skipping a beat. Easily the most versatile tank I've ever owned. --S.G. (July 08)
